ALERT DAY: Friday snow, travel troubles – ABC 6 News

[ad_1]

(ABC 6 News) – A winter storm will make it’s way through the region Friday morning leading to tricky travel on area roads.

ABC 6 News Weather First Meteorologist Jim Peterson says snow will continue throughout the area, picking up not only in coverage, but intensity as well. Bands of moderate to heavy snow will be possible through the morning commute, not the best news, as travel impacts are looking pretty likely as the result.

Steady snow will continue the tricky travel conditions through the first half of our Friday, with the snow slowly tapering off by the mid-day.

The Weather First viewing area will see 3-6″ of snow by the mid-day hours. A few places may exceed this range, upwards of 6-8″ mainly south of I-90 across north central Iowa.

Thankfully the wind remains under control. A gust to 20 mph rounding the north on Friday is possible, but blowing and drifting snow should be limited.
