District 7 Councilmember Celebrates CDC Grant for Metro Health – The City of San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO (December 15, 2022) — The San Antonio City Council accepted a $25.5 million grant for the Metropolitan Health District from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on December 15. The District 7 Councilmember released the following statement:



“This is a momentous occasion for our Health Department. The staff have proven themselves to be remarkable public servants and are now even better equipped to handle public health emergencies and meet community needs,” said the District 7 Councilwoman. “I’m looking forward to future public health advancements that this funding will make possible.”



As part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems Grant will impact Metro Health’s strategic objectives in the SA Forward Plan over the next five years by strengthening its workforce strategy and public health infrastructure.
