DELMARVA – 50% of young adults say they’re making their mental health a top priority for the new year, according to Forbes Health.

Local experts say focusing in on that could set the tone for your 2023.

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Ian Bolland with Balanced Point Wellness tells us most individuals suffering from anxiety or depression benefit from seeking therapy.

Bolland adds lots of that work deals with working on the individual from the inside, which is why he stresses the importance of positive self-talk. “All the research does suggest that positive self-talk can be important for a number of reasons. Those include helping reduce stress, to boosting confidence and resilience, and helping build better relationships,” Bolland said.

“It’s important for people to get into some type of therapy and then find that purpose and meaning.”

Bolland adds that decision to start therapy is solely up that individual when they’re ready.

Balanced Point Wellness offers a variety of services with a focus on taking a holistic approach to healing.
