New Jerseyans love their charming small townsperfect for days trips, the occasional shopping sprees and splurging on some of the best food.

So it comes as no surprise that Travel and Leisure has included Cape May in their new list of the 20 most beautiful small towns in the country.

The Jersey Shore town ranked No. 20 on the list, with the website highlighting its beautiful beaches and colorful Victorian houses. The article quotes Diane Wieland, director for Cape May County Tourism.

“When you get there, you are struck by the beauty of the Victoriana,” Wieland said. “All the different colored painted houses…the gas lights. This is the experience you’re going to get. And this is what we live every day.”

Other destinations that made the list include Palisade, Colorado and Taos, New Mexico.

In late November, Travel and Leisure also named Cape May among the best Christmas towns in America along with Atlantic City.
