Morbi case: Religious, social bodies come out in support of Oreva MD | Rajkot News

RAJKOT: Several social, religious and business organizations on Saturday openly came out in support of Oreva Group managing director Jaysukh Patelwho was arrested in connection with the October 30, 2022, Morbi suspension bridge collapse that left 135 people dead.
Umiyadham-Sidar, the apex religious body of Kadva Patidar community, Morbi Ceramic Association, Morbi Truck Transporters Association, Self-Finance Schools Association and other organizations eulogised the social work by Patel and released letters supporting him.
Sources said that a movement has been initiated by these organisations to support him. Shree Umiyamataji Mandir Trust-Sidar, in a letter to all followers, stated: “We sympathise with the families of Morbi bridge collapse victims. But Oreva Group’s Jaysukhbhai Patel is a social leader and leading businessman, who also performs his social responsibility and national duties.”
The letter also states that Patel accepted the management of the suspension bridge as a social responsibility only to conserve Morbi’s heritage. He spent lakhs of rupees on the bridge’s maintenance and there was no intention to earn money from the tickets.
Other organizations that voiced support for Patel include Shree Sardar Leuva Patidar Samaj Tankara, Akhil Gujarat Patidar Seva SamajAhmedabad, Morbi Paper Mills Association, etc.
