Shiv Thakare always said that he represented the common man inside the Bigg Boss 16 (BB16) house. And it seems to have worked in his favour. Shiv, who was declared the runner-up this season, says, “Whatever support I got from fans was because I was one of them. I am proud that I represented the aam aadmi of our country.”There have been times when Shiv has had to pay a price for being the winner of Bigg Boss Marathi 2. On being asked about this, he says, “Yes, my co-contestants always made an issue saying that I had won the Marathi version and I know the game strategies better than anyone else. But it’s not true. I tried to remain real, that was my only strategy.”

When he participated in Bigg Boss Marathi 2, he was also in the news for having a relationship with his fellow contestant Veena Jagtap; he even got her name tattooed on his right hand. Later due to some differences, they parted ways. Ask him about it and he says, “Whatever relations I had in Bigg Boss Marathi or BB 16, are all close to my heart. Maine jo kiya dil se kiya. I have no regrets at all. Pyaar soch samajh kar nahi kiya jaata.” Is he still in touch with Veena? “We have parted ways, but before entering BB 16, I spoke to Veena once,” he replies.

Loved by his fans for his simplicity and loyalty towards his mandali, Shiv shared a great bond with co-contestants Sajid Khan, Abdu Rozik, MC Stan, Sumbul Touqeer and Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia. He will always stay in touch with them, he says. “I am going to miss my mandali, especially Abdu. Though we don’t understand each other’s language, ours is a dil se dil ka rishta.”
