The Green Carpet Fashion Awards is moving to Los Angeles.
The event has previously been held in Milan during Fashion Week, in a slightly different format, but this relocation aims to bring together the mighty forces of the fashion and film industries, for increased impact.
Taking place during Oscars week (8 March), to capitalise on all the talent who will be in town, the ceremony will celebrate “positive forces in fashion and entertainment and their collective ability to move culture forward”.
Livia Firththe founder of the awards and the sustainability consultancy Eco Age, is behind the event, which will be co-chaired by Cate Blanchett, Viola Davisdesigner Tom Ford, model Quannah Chasinghorse and actor Simu Liu, reports WWD.

Ahead of the 2023 awards, Firth explained how the ceremony will help move fashion towards a greener future: “Fashion can and should be a lifeline; sustainability solutions are intersectional solutions and we all need to come together and forge strong paths with human and ecological justice centre stage. The Green Carpet Fashion Awards will showcase just that — the level of commitment and focus we all need to mirror, pulling together two powerful, interconnected industries to step up for collective transformation.”
For over a decade, Firth has contributed significantly to the conversation around sustainability in fashion. She first launched her business Eco-Age, followed by Green Carpet Challenge – alongside environmental journalist Lucy Siegle – back in 2010. They encouraged stars to wear more eco-friendly designs to high-profile events (which led to more than 250 stars doing so), opening up the conversation about sustainable red-carpet style and celebrity responsibility.
The Green Carpet Fashion Awards were held for the first time in Milan in 2017, and are now taking place during Oscars week, with the hope of taking the conversation to a wider audience.
“This is not a celebration of an industry with the power to distract. Rather, it’s the recognition of an industry that needs to leverage its power for people and planet,” Firth explained in a statement. “Fashion is a full spectrum industry, touching billions of lives across the globe and reliant on a healthy biosphere. We must use that reach and power to bring purposeful change.”
