NEW DELHI: ORS (oral rehydration solution) pioneer Dilip Mahalanabis will receive the Padma Vibhushan (posthumous) in the field of Medicine (Pediatrics), the Centre announced on Wednesday. A total of 25 other personalities across various walks of life will be awarded the Padma Shri.
Ratan Chandra Kara retired government doctor from the Andamans working with the Jarawa tribe who inhabit an island 48 km from North Sentinel, will receive the Padma Shri in the field of Medicine (Physician).
Hirabai Lobi, a Siddi Tribal social worker and leader, who has dedicated her life for the betterment of the Siddi community in Gujarat will receive the Padma Shri in the field of Social Work (Tribal).
Munishwar Chander Dawar, a war veteran and doctor from Jabalpur treating underprivileged people for the past 50 years, will be awarded the Padma Shri in the field of Medicine (Affordable Healthcare).
