“Sarvarkar samjha kya… Name is Rahul Gandhi,” the tweet read.
Did Savarkar understand… the name is Rahul Gandhi https://t.co/QFGsAJSxeo

The Congress’s tweet on Savarkar comes in the context of BJP’s demand for apology as Savarkar is condemned by the Congress for his ‘mercy petitions’ to the British.
Rahul Gandhi and the Congress have stuck to their ground that there is nothing to apologise for as the MP did not insult India or its democracy.
Reacting to the tweet, law minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju urged the party to not “insult” the great personality (Veer Savarkar). “I request with folded hands,” the minister tweeted.
Please don’t insult the great soul Veer Savarkar. Praying with folded hands🙏 https://t.co/sjAzRRQ3N5

Party slams Delhi police action
Earlier in the day, the Congress slammed the Delhi police for sending a team to Rahul Gandhi’s residence seeking more information on his comments that he met two women who claimed to be gangraped.
Rahul had made the comments during the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said the first notice was sent to Rahul on March 16 and the MP had sought some time to respond. “But still, the police on Sunday came to his residence to ask the same questions with a new notice,” Singhvi said.
“This is very strange. Rahul Gandhi walked across the country for five months. And the Delhi police presented the same questions twice in three days. We asked them how many such political yatras come to their scrutiny like this,” Singhvi added.
“Nowadays there is a special focus on Rahul Gandhi. Is it the reason that Delhi Police has suddenly become so active?” Singhvi further said.
